This course is designed for students interested in CINEMA AND MEDIA STUDIES, RATHER THAN those seeking to study language (such as English) through cinema and media. We welcome students from diverse backgrounds, but we assume that participants have a basic level of visual literacy in world cinema—in other words, a habit of watching and thinking critically about films—as well as a university-level understanding of Asian geopolitical contexts.

If this sounds like you, feel free to jump in with confidence! We recommend auditing the introductory session first to get a sense of the reading load and assignments. That way, you can decide if the course is the right fit for your interests and goals. We look forward to having you in class!

受講条件 Prerequisites	This advanced course is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated certain interest and background knowledge in cinema studies, and have the competency in reading and analyzing cinematic texts in English. Preferably we welcome students whose written and spoken English abilities are adequate enough for them to participate in presentations and to write short essays and so forth.
