Q: NU-EMIのサイトに、金曜5限にオンラインで開講される旨記載されておりましたが、形式はZoom等のライブ配信でしょうか?また、その場合録画の配布などはございますでしょうか?
A: In short - the weekly class meetings are only for students who take the course for credit. The weekly class meetings are discussion sessions held online on Zoom. All lectures are recorded and available on demand.
Longer answer:
Studium Generale is a course that can be (1) viewed as an Open Course, or can be (2) taken for credit, as an ILAS general education course.
The lecture content is the same, all lectures are recorded and accessible anytime online. But the participation format and completion rules are different.
(1) Studium Generale as an Open Course is for personal academic enrichment. Completing the Open Course can provide you with a Certificate of Completion.
Taking the course in this format is on a completely free schedule - all lectures are accessible on demand, all quizzes are open to take anytime too. Watch min 7 lectures and successfully answer the quizzes associated with them and you are eligible for Certificate of Completion.
To register for the Open course format, apply through the Google Form here https://www.bio.nagoya-u.ac.jp/G30StudiumGenerale/
(2) In the case of the credit course, undergraduate students take it to receive credits as ILAS course.
Taking the course in this format, as a formal university course, involves participation in weekly (online) class discussion sessions - which are held on Fridays from 4:30pm, and submission of weekly reports related to the lecture content.
To register for the credit course format, proceed from NU Portal course registration site as with all other academic courses. The course code is 0065511.
