🍓What is a Climate Fresk?
A Climate Fresk is a collaborative, science-based workshop designed to help people understand climate change—its causes, mechanisms, and consequences—through active participation rather than lectures. It originated in France (2018) and is now used worldwide in schools, universities, companies, and public institutions.
Participants work in small groups (usually 4–8 people supported by a facilitator) and
  • 1) Receive a set of cards (Each card represents a scientific fact),
  • 2) Link the cards together,
  • 3) Create a “fresk” (visual map), and
  • 4) Discuss solutions as well as emotions.
A full workshop typically lasts 3 hours.
The word “Fresk” comes from the French word “fresque”, which means a large wall painting as in the Italian term “fresco” for a painting made on fresh plaster.

🍓Climate Freskとは、講義形式ではなく参加型の活動を通して、気候変動の原因・仕組み・影響を理解するために設計された、科学的根拠に基づく協働型ワークショップです。2018年にフランスで始まり、現在では学校・大学・企業・公共機関など、世界中で活用されています。
参加者は通常4〜8人の小グループに分かれ、facilitatorにサポートされながら...
  • 1）科学的事実を示したカードを受け取り、
  • 2）カード同士を因果関係に基づいてつなぎ、
  • 3）全体として一つの「フレスク（視覚的マップ）」を作成し、
  • 4）解決策や感情（気づき・驚き・不安・意欲など）について対話します。
ワークショップ全体の所要時間は、通常約3時間**です。
「Fresk（フレスク）」という言葉は、フランス語の fresque（フレスク） に由来し、これはイタリア語の fresco（フレスコ） と同様、漆喰が乾く前の壁に描かれる大きな壁画を意味します。

🍓Why become a facilitator, and how do I become one?
Many of our students express an interest in pursuing a career that will contribute to society, such as working for a non-profit organization (NPO) or an international organization, and eventually the United Nations. The typical way to find such an opportunity is to first show your skills by doing volunteer work. Areas like environmental education and sustainability education provide rare opportunities that bridge volunteer work with compensated work, depending on whether the teaching is done for a school or for a business.
In our March one-day workshop, you will first experience being a participant in a Climate Fresk in the morning, and if you wish to, in the afternoon, you will receive training to serve as a facilitator in future events.
If our March workshop is successful, we will have a bigger Climate Fresk event in the Spring Semester, where we are hoping you will volunteer to be a facilitator.

🍓なぜファシリテーターになるのか？そして、どうすればなれるのか？
多くの学生が、NPO（非営利団体）や国際機関、将来的には国連など、社会に貢献するキャリアに関心を持っています。こうした進路を目指す際、一般的な第一歩は、ボランティア活動を通じて自分のスキルや意欲を示すことです。
中でも、環境教育やサステナビリティ教育の分野は、活動の場が学校か企業かによって、ボランティアと有償の仕事をつなぐことができる、数少ない分野の一つです。
3月に実施する1日ワークショップでは、午前中にまずClimate Fresk（クライメート・フレスク）を参加者として体験してもらいます。そして希望者は、午後に今後のイベントでファシリテーターとして活動するためのトレーニングを受けることができます。
この3月のワークショップが成功した場合、春学期にはより大規模なClimate Freskイベントを開催予定です。その際には、ファシリテーターとしてボランティア参加することを期待しています。
