We live in a world where we can indulge in a myriad of entertainments provided with low costs, if not free. We all take pleasure in watching amusing videos on Youtube, and we definitely appreciate the great collection of films, anime, and TV shows on Netflix as well as music subscriptions and free manga apps. Among these, the continuous accumulation of low-quality garments, and the unsustainably “fast” model of fast fashion are becoming the norm in our consumer society. Why purchase Gucci when Zara offers you something that’s analogous in design? But I wonder, have you ever thought of the various impacts of fast fashion? These are not limited to environmental issues, as they extend to egregious effects on designers, workers, and…us, the customers. Come join our session to discuss the enlightening, and multifaceted topic of fast fashion!
格差社会の中、若者を中心とした現代人の心を掴んだのは、ローコストで楽しめる娯楽だ。牛丼屋の値下げ競争、音楽を聴き放題のサブスクリプション、面白い動画を無限に提供してくれるYouTube等、次々と安く楽しめるサービスが頭角を現す。エンターテイメントを縦にしつつ、消費社会が加速していく中、多くの人がファストファッションを身に纏っている。他の店で買えば数万円、または数十万するような流行品を、なんと数千円で買えてしまうのだ。実態を知れば知るほど、多方面にわたる問題点が浮き彫りになるファストファッション。盗作問題、環境問題、そしてその中心にあるのは満たされない人々の承認欲求。あなたはどう考えますか？
